Make Your Summer Wardrobe Do Double Duty This Fall

Shorter days. Cooler temperatures. Fall is officially in full swing, but don’t despair! You can still work some of your favorite summer pieces into your fall wardrobe. All it takes are some simple changes and a shift in mindset. Maybe you’re not going to be pulling out that bikini anytime soon, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t countless other ways to give those easy breezy summer styles new life as fall staples.

That flowy maxi dress you loved just throwing on this summer? You can give it a longer shelf life this year with some simple additions. Just throw on a leather jacket with short lace up boots and you’re all set. Or go for a great blazer to polish up the look. I love the blazers with pretty details like velvet trim. (Need more convincing? Kate Middleton was seen in Topshop just last weekMake Your Summer Wardrobe Do Double Duty This Fall purchasing her very own.) Chunky jewelry and a purse in a bold deep color (like red) would also add some weight to this light breezy dress.

And don’t forget about those short shorts quite yet! You can wear those great denim shorts well into the colder weather without looking even a little out of place. Add thick textured tights and suddenly you have a great fall look. Pair with boots and a slouchy sweater for an ultra easy comfortable look that is sure to impress. This is a great outfit for weekends or for any day you want to have that creative soul look. Added bonus: tights have a way of making everyone’s legs look great, so there’s no reason to feel at all self conscious. So this fall, pull off those short shorts with confidence!

As much as I hate to admit this, summer seems to bring out the worst of my fashion decisions. Like, for example, that pair of light washed worn jeans that really should have been retired by now. Instead, I roll them up and call it style. We all have our weak moments. So I absolutely loved this idea for redeeming those jeans this fall. (And since I’m sure I’m not the only guilty one here, I bet you will too.) And yes, you can still roll the jeans up, but please wear cute flats instead of flip-flops. Just add an ultra feminine wool blazer in a neutral color. Top it off with a cozy pretty scarf and voila- those shabby jeans are suddenly chic. Keep the color palette light and you will have a look that exudes femininity.
