Olympic Nail Art: The Must See Manicure Moments!

The Olympic games inspire us all!  From the 5-year-old girl flipping her Barbie like McKayla Maroney, to the 85-year-old grandfather who stills holds on to his adolescent dream of running like Jesse Owens.  It is the burning anticipation in an athlete’s eyes just before the whistle blows that awakens our spirit!

And when it comes to showing national pride athleticism is just as significant as fashion.  Symbolic colors, flag prints, uniforms with personality and savvy accessories are all apart of the mix.  What caught my attention most were the patriotic nail designs.   Feminine, subtle and cleverly crafted, nationalistic nails added glam to the sporty Olympics!

More eyes were on Rebecca Adlington’s manicure by Sophy Robson than her bronze medal.  The designs are SO good they’re worth keeping around all year long!  So I’ve rounded up my favorite Olympic nail designs, give them a try!

Hungarian beach volleyball player Becchara Palmer, 24 | Becchara’s nail decco mixes shades of green, yellow, white and blue with distinct patterns on each finger ranging from stars to stripes and zigzags

Hungarian swimmer Zsuzasanna Jakabos, 23 | Light blue square tips with white swirls symbolize a stream of water perfect for aquatic beauties

French basketball player Emmeline Ndongue, 29 | Emmeline sports nails painted in the colors of the French flag as she yells to her teammates during a preliminary match against Australia

Great Britain

British swimmer Aimee Wilmott, 19 | Gorgeous shimmery red nails are given an Olympic twist with the five famous rings embellished on Aimee’s thumb

Belarusian road bicycle racer Alena Amialiusik, 23 | Alena uses her nail bed to fuse her country’s primary colors then tops it off with a glitter accent at the cuticle

German tennis player Angelic Kerber, 24 | Black, red and gold create three horizontal bands reflecting the German flag, though this reminds me of candy corn (scrumptious, but no nail biting)!

American kayaker Caroline Queen, 20 | Caroline uses a combination of stripes and stars on individual nails for a unique twist on patriotic nails

French freestyle swimmer Coralie Balmy, 25 | Red, white and blue aysmetrical side tips result in a simple, yet eye catching French flag inspired nail design

Australian swimmer Emily Seebohm, 20 | Emily chooses yellow and lime green zebra stripes which match her swim cap to a T

German track cyclist Kristina Vogel, 21 | Kristina chooses a blazing manicure with Germany’s red hot flag colors to get her in the mood for cycling

Belarusian tennis player Victoria Azarenka, 23 | Victoria mingles green and red shades for a gold medal worthy  mani

Lithuanian swimmer Ruta Meilutyte, 15, | Ruta gives an emotional kiss to the crowd while revealing her mixed treats nail art

American swimmer Missy Franklin, 17| The four time Olympic gold medalist rocks matching stripes and stars on her thumb and ring finger and tames the look with solid blue finishes

Japanese badminton player Reiko Shiota, 28 | Reiko’s diverse nail tones and patterns symbolize both Japanese and Union flags

Colombian swimmer Carolina Colorado Henao, 24 | Carolina uses her nail canvas to express appreciation for both Britain and Colombia, this is one of my favorites!

United Kingdom

British freestyle swimmer Rebecca Adlington, 23 | The Union Jack flag never looked so polish perfect!
