First Lady of Fashion: Michelle Obama’s Top 25 Looks!

There’s one story that, if true, helps define Michelle Obama’s confidence. One of the President’s security guards told the media in an interview that Michelle and Barack visited Chicago and stopped at a fast food restaurant. Michelle discovered she had gone to school with the restaurant owner. So she went over to chat with her schoolmate, while Barack watched slightly bothered. When she returned to Barack he said, “If you had married that guy you would be the owner of this restaurant.” She replied, “If I married him, he would be the President of the United States.” What a comeback!

One stylish American lawyer and writer, Michelle Obama’s fashion sense is refreshingly relatable, helping women of all walks of life connect with her. Sophisticated A-line and pencil skirts, prim cardigans, arm-barring dresses, energetic tones, youthful prints and astonishing ball gowns – simple silhouettes with royal details are her signature. It took me a while to warm up to the kitten heels and flats, but they’ve become such an integral element of her look that she actually makes them look more appealing. Her style is inviting and natural, just the qualities we desire in a First Lady.

Having worn more than 50 designers as the FLOTUS thus far, her keen interest and support of American classics like J. Crew and New York based designers like Jason Wu and Tracey Reese helps inspire new talent and innovative design in the United States. Jason Wu designed Michelle Obama’s first and second inaugural dresses. Maria Pinto of Chicago is another designer Michelle Obama has supported, in addition to Diane von Furstenberg and Naeem Khan, who she wears frequently to campaign events and fundraisers. Since joining Barack Obama on the campaign trail in 2008, Michelle Obama has been crowned a fashion icon, and she earned it. Take a look:
